English Language Tests
The universities in New Zealand offer degree programs in English. Students who are not native English speakers are required to appear for an English proficiency test to certify that one has the necessary skills in the language to pursue their higher education in New Zealand. The certification is required to do the university applications and get a New Zealand student visa. There are three types of English language tests are as follows:
• IELTS: International English Language Testing System is the go-to option for proof of English language proficiency. Students taking admission in the New Zealand universities are required to appear for the IELTS Academic test. It includes four sections Writing, Reading, Speaking, and Listening. The average band required is 6.0 with 6.5. The validity of the test is for up to two years and it costs INR 14,000.
• TOEFL: Test of English as a Foreign Language is another test that is accepted by the New Zealand universities as proof of English skills and language. The test costs INR 13,518 and contains four sections: reading, listening, writing, and Speaking. New Zealand asks for an overall score of around 80 to 90 and the validity of the TOEFL score sheet is of two years.
• PTE: PTE Academic is another English language proficiency test that includes four sections Writing, Reading, Listening, and Speaking. The New Zealand universities ask for a score of 50 to 58 and students can access the results within 48 hours of appearing for the tests.
Subject Specific Assessments
The graduate and undergraduate students are required to appear for the subject-specific tests to secure admission for business and medicine programs at the top universities in New Zealand. Take a look!
• GMAT: Graduate Management Aptitude Test is a subject-specific test required to enroll for an MBA degree or any other management program. The Universities in New Zealand ask for a GMAT score of 550. The fee to appear for the GMAT test is INR 18,300.
• GRE: Graduate Record Examination is a test that students are required to appear for if they are applying to study the subjects like chemistry, biology, mathematics, and psychology. The fees of the GRE test are INR 15,562.
